How to Return an Item to Coach

  1. Check your window and the condition. — You have 30 days, and the item must be unworn, unused and complete — all tags, parts and accessories included. Try shoes on in a clean, carpeted area so they stay returnable.
  2. Start the return online. — Use Coach’s “Start Your Return” route on coach.com and choose mail or store.
  3. For a store return, just take it in. — Whether you bought in-store or online from Coach or Coach Outlet, you can return at Coach and Coach Outlet stores — the choice is yours — and in-person returns get a full refund except for shipping and gift box costs.
  4. For a mail return, use the pre-paid label or insured, traceable shipping. — Send new and unused items to CSI Returns, 1549 Vantage Way, Jacksonville, FL 32218. Using Coach’s pre-paid label costs $7, deducted from your refund.
  5. Wait for processing. — Once received, a return can take up to 7–10 business days to process, and your bank may need 1–2 billing cycles to post the credit.

How Long Do You Have to Return Items to Coach?

The standard window is 30 days for both regular price and sale items, as long as they are not marked Final Sale. The condition rule is strict: items must be unworn, unused, with all tags, parts and accessories. Anything customized, made to order, monogrammed or cut to size is Final Sale and cannot come back at all — though if you are unhappy with a customized Coach Create piece, a Coach store with customization services will switch out the embellishments for free.

All purchases made between Wednesday, 28 October 2026 and Friday, 25 December 2026 can be returned through Monday, 25 January 2027. The extension covers Christmas gifts bought in late October and last-minute December buys, so a gift received on Christmas Day still has a full month to go back.

How Do Coach Exchanges Work?

Exchanges are free of charge within 30 days of receipt, and every item is eligible for exchange in any Coach store. Online exchanges have one big exception: handbags are not eligible for online exchanges. To swap a handbag, visit a Coach store, or return the bag by mail and buy your new bag of choice online. Shoes and clothes can be exchanged online in four steps:

  1. Start the exchange and select the original item, then choose a different size or colour if available.
  2. Ship the original item to the distribution centre within 3 days of starting the exchange, so the replacement stays in stock.
  3. Once the original arrives back, the exchange is processed within 5–7 days, and you get a confirmation email when the replacement ships.
  4. If the replacement is not available, you receive a full refund to your original form of payment instead — and if Coach never receives the original item, the exchange is cancelled.

All exchanges are subject to inventory availability and to the returns policy, and initial shipping charges are not refundable.

Can You Return a Coach Order to a Store?

Yes — unusually flexible. Whether you purchased in-store or online from Coach or Coach Outlet, you are welcome to return at Coach and Coach Outlet stores, whichever suits you. In-person returns get a full refund, except for shipping and gift box costs, which are non-refundable.

Items returned with a gift receipt receive a Coach Merchandise Card (store credit) rather than a refund to the buyer’s card.

What Can’t Be Returned to Coach?

Coach publishes a clear Final Sale list, and these items cannot be returned, exchanged or price-adjusted:

  • Customized items — pieces personalized via Coach Create, bags with monogrammed hangtags and belts cut to size
  • Made-to-order items
  • Leather care products
  • Fragrances
  • Clearance items marked “Final Sale”

Beyond that list, condition rules knock out returns on anything worn, used, washed or missing tags, parts or accessories. Made-to-order, customized or altered items cannot be returned or exchanged at all, so double-check personalization before ordering — the free embellishment swap in store is the remedy for a customized piece you dislike, not a return.

How Are Refunds Issued and How Long Do They Take?

Refunds go back to your original form of payment, with two costs kept back: shipping costs and gift box costs are non-refundable, and using Coach’s pre-paid mail label deducts $7 from the refund. Gift-receipt returns are refunded as a Coach Merchandise Card instead.

Return routeHow the refund timing works
In storeFull refund in person (except shipping and gift box costs) at a Coach or Coach Outlet store
By mail with pre-paid label$7 deducted from the refund; up to 7–10 business days to process after receipt, then 1–2 billing cycles for your bank to post the credit
By mail with your own insured shippingSame processing time; you carry the shipping cost instead of the $7 label fee
Gift receipt returnsCoach Merchandise Card (store credit) rather than a card refund

If the replacement item in an exchange is unavailable, Coach refunds you in full to your original form of payment.

Does Coach Offer Price Adjustments?

Yes, within a tight window. If an item you bought has been marked down within 7 days of your purchase, bring it to a Coach store along with your receipt, or call Client Services on 1-888-262-6224, for a price adjustment. Contrast with the Final Sale list: customized orders and clearance items marked Final Sale are not eligible for price adjustments at all, so a markdown on a Final Sale piece does not earn an adjustment.

Does Coach Extend Returns for the Holidays?

Yes — one of Coach’s best features. All purchases made between 28 October 2026 and 25 December 2026 can be returned through Monday, 25 January 2027. The extension applies on top of the normal 30-day rule, so a gift bought in late October does not expire before Christmas. Outside that purchase window, the standard 30 days applies, so January sale purchases go back under the normal rule.

Conclusion

Coach’s return policy is a short, fair one: 30 days, a $7 label fee by mail, free exchanges, and any store will take any channel’s purchase. The two things to remember are the Final Sale list — customization kills returnability — and the handbag rule, which keeps bag swaps in store. Buy your Christmas gifts between late October and Christmas Day and the holiday extension stretches your window to 25 January 2027.
