Anthropologie Return Policy: 30 Days for a Refund, a Full Year for Credit
Anthropologie’s return policy runs on two clocks. Return merchandise within 30 days of the delivery or in-store purchase date and the refund goes to your original form of payment at the original selling price.
Return it after 30 days and you still get your value back — but as a merchandise credit at the original selling price, and that second chance runs for a full year: after one year, Anthropologie will no longer accept returns or exchanges. Every return needs an original sales receipt or an AnthroPerks lookup, items must be unworn, unwashed and unaltered in original packaging with all tags attached, and a mail return costs $5.95 deducted from your refund — unless you are processing an exchange.
REFUND WINDOW – 30 days from delivery or in-store purchase — original form of payment
CREDIT WINDOW – After 30 days up to one year — merchandise credit at the original selling price
MAIL RETURNS – $5.95 deducted from your refund (waived for exchanges)
RECEIPT – Original sales receipt or AnthroPerks lookup required

How to Return an Item to Anthropologie
- Count from the right date. For online orders, the window is determined by the delivery date of the shipped items; for store purchases, by the in-store purchase date. Inside 30 days you are refund-eligible; after 30 days, credit-eligible; after one year, neither.
- Check the condition and the paperwork. Items must be unworn, unwashed and unaltered, returned in original packaging with all tags attached — and returns or exchanges must be accompanied by an original sales receipt or an AnthroPerks lookup.
- For the free route, return in store. Eligible items can be returned at any Anthropologie store location. Note the two venue exclusions: items purchased online or in-store cannot be returned to the Anthropologie Home Outlet or Anthropologie pop-up locations — and store purchases cannot be processed as returns at the warehouse, so a store buy cannot be mailed back.
- To return by mail, start from your account. Sign in, select Order History, locate the order and select Start a Return or Exchange to print your shipping label. No printer? Select the mobile return code instead and show it at a UPS Store, and they will print the label for you. Guest orders and orders received as gifts can be found via Order Status.
- Know the mail costs and clocks. Return labels are only available for orders shipped to the continental US, and no additional postage is required — but a $5.95 shipping charge will be deducted from your refund unless you are processing an exchange. Shipping fees are non-refundable. Allow approximately 1–2 weeks for processing, and keep your carrier tracking number and receipt.
- For a gift return by mail, select GIFT. Anthropologie will issue an e-gift card instead of refunding the buyer. You will need the original order number and billing zip code to process it.
- For furniture, do not go to a store. Furniture items may not be returned in stores. If your item arrived via delivery service, contact Anthropologie’s furniture specialists to schedule a complimentary return pick-up within 30 days. Unlimited Furniture Delivery items cannot be returned using a return label at all.
How Long Do You Have to Return Items to Anthropologie?
A full year — but what you get back changes at day 30. Anthropologie’s FAQ states the structure plainly: merchandise returned within 30 days of the delivery or in-store purchase date is refunded to the original form of payment at the original selling price; merchandise returned after 30 days earns a merchandise credit at the original selling price; and after one year, returns and exchanges are no longer accepted. For online orders, the dates are set by the delivery date of the shipped items, not the order date.
Two protections inside that generous window are worth noting. The credit is calculated at the original selling price — what you paid, not a later markdown — and the one-year limit applies to returns and exchanges alike. The conditions do not relax with time: receipt or AnthroPerks lookup, unworn, unwashed, unaltered, original packaging, tags attached.
Can You Return to Anthropologie Without a Receipt?
The published requirement is an original sales receipt or an AnthroPerks lookup — the lookup is the built-in alternative, letting Anthropologie find the purchase through your AnthroPerks account instead of your paper receipt. The FAQ does not publish a further fallback for a purchase that can be found neither way, so if you are outside AnthroPerks and the receipt is gone, ask the store or customer service what they can do — but expect the lookup to be the deciding factor.
What Can’t Be Returned to Anthropologie?
Anthropologie’s published exclusions are:
- Anything after one year — returns and exchanges are no longer accepted
- Made-to-order gowns — final sale; cannot be cancelled, returned or exchanged
- Anthropologie Home Outlet purchases — all items sold at Home Outlets are sold as-is and are final sale
- Furniture, in stores — furniture items may not be returned in stores; delivered furniture goes through the furniture specialists’ pick-up route
- Wedding gowns and bridal separates, in stores — they must be shipped back to the warehouse, unless originally purchased at a store
- Used condition items — merchandise must be unworn, unwashed and unaltered, in original packaging with all tags attached
- DoorDash purchases, for refunds — non-refundable; exchange for the same item in a new size or color of equal value at any store within 30 days is the only route
How Are Refunds Issued and How Long Do They Take?
Inside the 30-day window, the refund goes to the original method of payment and — once Anthropologie has processed the return — posts approximately 1–3 business days after the processing date. Most returns process in approximately 1–2 weeks, depending on the method of return, and you receive an email notification when your return has been processed. Items received outside the refund window are answered with a merchandise credit sent to the email address used for the purchase; Anthropologie warns it may take up to two billing cycles for a credit to appear on a monthly credit card statement. Two more money rules: gift card purchases are refunded in the form of a merchandise credit, and on mail returns the $5.95 shipping charge is deducted from the refund unless the return is an exchange; original shipping fees are non-refundable throughout.
What If Your Item Arrives Missing or Damaged?
Do not just return it — file the claim. All product-related issues, such as missing or damaged items or packages, must be reported within 30 days of the shipping date. From the order in your account (or Order Status for guest and gift orders), select Submit Claim and follow the instructions; all claims are reviewed and processed within 72 business hours, and you receive an email regarding the outcome of your claim.
Can You Get a Price Adjustment?
Yes — once, quickly, and on the right items. Anthropologie offers a one-time price adjustment within 14 days of purchase on regularly priced items and items purchased during temporary promotional offers, with an original sales receipt. The exclusions: no adjustments for permanently marked-down items that are part of the sale category, and no adjustments on shipping charges. For online or phone orders, contact Anthropologie; for store purchases, visit your local store.
Does Anthropologie Extend Returns for the Holidays?
No extended holiday window is published on Anthropologie’s official FAQ page as of 31 October 2026 — the page states the year-round structure and nothing seasonal on top of it. In practice, that structure is already holiday-tolerant: a gift delivered in December is refund-eligible into January, and credit-eligible for a full year from delivery. The date that matters for a gift is the delivery date, so keep the packing slip — packing slips are sent without prices and can be used as gift receipts — and let the recipient use the GIFT mail-return route for an e-gift card if the purchase details are available.

Conclusion
Anthropologie’s return policy is generous where shoppers feel it most: you are never truly stuck with a purchase for a whole year, because the value comes back as merchandise credit at the price you paid even after the refund window closes. The discipline it asks in return is paperwork and condition — receipt or AnthroPerks lookup, tags on, unworn — plus respect for the exceptions: furniture never goes back to a store, gowns go back to the warehouse, and day 366 is a hard wall. Keep the packing slip with the gift and the 30-day refund clock is the only one you need to watch.
