Gucci Return Policy: 30 Days, Free Returns and a Holiday Extension to 31 January

Gucci’s return policy gives you 30 days from the date of delivery to return or exchange an item bought on Gucci.com, and every return is free — Gucci emails you a prepaid shipping label and a QR code, and you can also drop the item at any Gucci store. The conditions are strict, though: everything must come back in its original condition with its original tags attached, beauty products must be unopened and returned within 10 days, and Made to Order, DIY and personalised items are final sale.

For the 2026 holiday season, Gucci has extended returns further: orders placed from 2 November to 31 December 2026 can be returned free until 31 January 2027. This guide covers the windows, the exceptions, the exchange rules and how fast each refund lands.

How to Return an Item to Gucci

  1. Start the return in your MY GUCCI account or from your delivery email. Sign in, open My Orders and select “Return Item(s)”, or click “Return” in your delivery confirmation email. The return option is available as soon as the item has been delivered and stays open for 30 days.
  2. Select the items and submit the request. The items in the package must match exactly what you selected while generating the return request — Gucci checks this at the warehouse.
  3. Use the prepaid label or QR code Gucci emails you. Download the prepaid shipping label from your MY GUCCI account or your return confirmation email, or use the QR code in that email. All returns shipped with the prepaid label or QR code are complimentary.
  4. Pack the item in its original packaging. Keep every tag attached, including the return tag on jewelry, watches, sunglasses and ready-to-wear — returns on those items are only honoured if the label has not been removed. For lingerie and swimwear, the underwear protection, when provided, must also be intact.
  5. Ship it, or take it to a Gucci store instead. You can schedule a pickup or bring the package to the nearest shipping centre, or return the item to any Gucci store in the United States — excluding Gucci outlet stores and department stores such as Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. Bring a printed version of the digital invoice from your shipment confirmation email. Track the return through your confirmation email, your MY GUCCI account or the tracking number on the label.
  6. Wait for the warehouse to process it. Once received, returns are processed within 10 business days and credited back to the original form of payment. You will receive an email confirmation when the return is complete.

How Long Do You Have to Return Items to Gucci?

The standard window is 30 days from the date of delivery for products bought on Gucci.com, whether you return them by mail or in store. The window is counted from delivery, not from the day you ordered, so a slow delivery does not eat into your time. The same 30 days applies to exchanges of online purchases, and to Collect In-Store items — for those, the window starts on the day the item was made available for collection. In-store purchases follow the same 30-day window, with the same condition rules: unworn, in original condition, in its original packaging with an undamaged box, original tags attached, and a valid proof of purchase.

Two categories run on a shorter clock. Beauty products may only be returned if unopened within 10 days from the date of delivery — that includes all Gucci Beauty, and the 10-day rule applies to exchanges of beauty items too. And if your item arrived with a return tag attached — Gucci puts these on certain jewelry, watches, sunglasses and ready-to-wear pieces — the return is only honoured if that label has not been removed. Cut the tag off and the item becomes final sale.

What Is Gucci’s Holiday Return Extension for 2026?

Gucci has published a genuine holiday extension for the 2026 season. Its US FAQ states: “Extended returns for the holiday season. Complimentary returns until January 31, 2027 on orders placed from November 2 to December 31, 2026.” If you place an order on Gucci.com any time from 2 November to 31 December 2026, you can return it free until 31 January 2027 — more than double the standard 30 days on a late-December purchase. The extension applies to complimentary returns, and the usual condition rules still apply: the item must be in its original condition with its tags attached, and Made to Order, personalised and final-sale items are still final sale. Orders placed before 2 November 2026 fall under the standard 30-day window, so a late-October purchase does not get the extension. If you are buying a Gucci gift for Christmas, the extension is the reason to buy it on Gucci.com rather than in a department store — a department store purchase can only go back to that store, under its own policy.

Can You Return Gucci Beauty and Fragrance?

Beauty is the tightest category in Gucci’s policy, so read this before you open anything. Beauty products may only be returned if unopened within 10 days from the date of delivery. That covers Gucci Beauty makeup and skincare: once the seal is broken or the product has been used, it cannot be returned. For lingerie and swimwear, the rule is about hygiene rather than time — the underwear protection, when provided, must be intact, and Gucci asks that swimwear and lingerie be tried on wearing your own clothing underneath. Fragrance and beauty products bought in a Gucci store are not eligible for refunds or exchanges at all under the in-store policy, so a perfume bought at a boutique is final sale even if it is unopened. The practical rule is simple: do not open a Gucci beauty product unless you are sure you want to keep it, and never buy fragrance as a speculative gift from a Gucci store.

What Can’t Be Returned to Gucci?

Gucci publishes a clear final-sale list, and it is longer than most luxury shoppers expect:

  • Made to Order items — custom-made after your order is placed, including Décor furniture such as chairs, stools and panelled screens; once submitted, they cannot be cancelled, modified or returned
  • DIY and personalised items — monogrammed handbags, wallets, small leather goods, belts, luggage and engraved jewelry; once an order has been placed, it is final sale
  • Lingerie products — final sale under the online policy
  • Selected Décor items — chairs and items with non-standard dimensions may need special return instructions; contact Gucci first
  • Items bought at a Gucci store, Gucci outlet or other retailer — these cannot be returned to Gucci.com at all; they can only go back through the channel where you bought them
  • Worn, used, altered or damaged merchandise — including any Gucci Beauty that has been worn or used
  • Items with the return tag removed — jewelry, watches, sunglasses and ready-to-wear shipped with a return tag are only returnable if the label is intact

One more limit: Gucci does not accept Gucci gift cards as a form of payment on Gucci.com, and does not sell Gucci gift cards there either — so there is no gift-card return route to worry about. Pre-paid cards such as pre-paid Visa gift cards are accepted as payment, and refunds on those go back to the original card used.

How Do Exchanges Work at Gucci?

Gucci is happy to facilitate exchanges for online purchases, but the online exchange is narrower than the return. An online exchange is only possible for a different size of the same item purchased, and for equal or lesser value items — you cannot swap a bag for a different bag, or a size for a more expensive item, through the self-service portal. The exchange window is 30 days from the date of delivery (10 days for beauty items), and exchanges are subject to merchandise availability. To exchange online, select “Exchange Item(s)” in your MY GUCCI account or click “Exchange” in your delivery confirmation email, then follow the same prepaid-label process as a return. Once received in the warehouse, exchanges are processed within approximately 7–10 business days, and you will receive an email confirmation and tracking when your new order ships.

In store, the rules are more flexible: you may exchange an item at any Gucci store (excluding outlet stores), bringing the item in its original packaging with a printed version of the digital invoice. If you want a different item rather than a different size, the cleanest route is to return the original for a refund and place a new order — Gucci itself suggests this for gift recipients, since Gucci.com cannot offer exchanges for returned gift merchandise at all.

Can You Return a Gucci Gift?

Yes, with one important limit. Gift items purchased on Gucci.com may be returned under the Online Return Policy, but refunds may only be issued to the same credit card used for the original payment — the recipient cannot receive cash, a different card refund or a Gucci credit. And at this time, Gucci.com cannot offer exchanges for returned gift merchandise: if the recipient wants a different size or item, they should return the gift for a refund to the buyer’s card and place a new order. Once a gift recipient has confirmed their selection, no exchanges can be made. Corporate gifts are a special case: they must be returned exclusively to Gucci.com, not to a store. If you are buying a Gucci gift, keep the digital invoice — the recipient needs a printed version of it to return the item in store.

How Are Refunds Issued and How Long Do They Take?

Once your return reaches the warehouse, Gucci processes it within 10 business days and credits the refund back to your original form of payment. You will receive an email confirmation when the return has been completed. The money then takes longer to reach you: Gucci states it may take up to 10–15 business days for the funds to be available in your account, on top of the warehouse processing time. Original shipping charges are not refundable. Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover pre-paid gift cards are reimbursed to the original card used. One point from Gucci’s own FAQ to note: if you paid with Affirm, timing matters — a return processed after 45 days means the interest you paid will not be refunded, so return Affirm purchases promptly.

Payment methodHow and when the refund arrives
Credit or debit cardProcessed within 10 business days of warehouse receipt; funds available in up to 10–15 business days
PayPalRefund processed through your PayPal account; in-store returns accepted, packaged and shipped to the warehouse for processing
Amazon PayRefund processed through the form of payment selected through your Amazon account
AffirmIf the return is processed within 30 days of the shipment date, the loan is cancelled before the first payment is due; after 30 days, the first payment is charged and then refunded; interest paid on returns received after 45 days is not refunded
Pre-paid gift cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover)Reimbursed to the original card used

For in-store purchases, refunds are issued in the same form as the original payment.

Does Gucci Accept Returns From Other Stores?

No — and this is the rule that catches the most shoppers. Items purchased at a Gucci store, Gucci outlet store or other retailer or distributor cannot be returned to Gucci.com. They can only be returned through the same channel where you bought them. A bag bought at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus or Bergdorf Goodman goes back to that department store, under its policy, not to Gucci. A bag bought at a Gucci outlet can only be exchanged at a Gucci store — outlet locations themselves will only accept exchanges, never refunds. International purchases are the strictest of all: it is not possible to return or request a refund for international purchases at all, although you can exchange them with proof of purchase, at the current local price, paying any difference caused by local tax rates.

Conclusion

Gucci’s return policy is generous on time and cost — 30 days, free returns, and a holiday extension to 31 January 2027 — and strict on condition and category. Keep the tags on, keep the return tag intact, do not open beauty products you might send back, and never personalise an item you are not sure about, because personalised and Made to Order pieces are final sale. Buy on Gucci.com rather than at a department store if you want the return route, and remember that a store or outlet purchase can never be mailed back to Gucci.com.
